"How the Dead Live" is a tale told through the sounds and instruments of 19th century New Zealand. Featuring steamships, the clank of iron, voice and folk instruments, this album was inspired by the true story of one of New Zealands first pioneer women, Susannah Hawes. The CD follows a (fictive) dialoge between Susannah and History herself. History has been sent to track Susannahs 'ordinary' life and is irritated with the lack of battles and adventure in the lonely west coast town of Karamea. Susannah suggests, however, that maybe it is those who are overlooked by History who are really 'the Brave'.
